Angus Steak House, Leicester Square, London

Angus Steakhouse An attractive but cost effective outdoor eating area was required for the Angus Steak House in Leicester Square. However, given the location the site had to be cleared for film premiers at certain times of the year; they did not want awnings attached to the building.

Using standard parasols of 3.5 m/sq with 230 kg bases, special heavy duty casters were sourced and welded onto the base frames thus making a heavy structure easily portable. The screens were made of matching fabric with portable chrome posts and a special electrical connection was incorporated to enable the use of heaters, which were attached to the parasols.

The project came in under budget and the total area (2 sides) can be cleared in minutes. The premises look infinitely more appealing and trade has increased significantly.

Rose And Crown, Sutton-On-the-Forest, York

Rose & Crown - YorkAndy and Caroline Middleton were looking for a whole new themed area for their inn that provide a friendly atmosphere, not only for customers who wanted to enjoy just a drink but also somewhere to serve meals and provide function facilities too.

The Empire Breeze House was chosen along with matching table and thatched umbrella kits, creating a seating area for 42 people. Even more importantly the installation was quick and simple, taking only 1 day build and less than 2 months between the Middletons’ first enquiry and the official launch night.

"Once our locals saw how different the garden was they were amazed and since then our profits have increased substantially. Now we have more customers, visiting more often and more importantly, staying longer each time they visit" said Andy..

Marine Boat House, Skegness

Marine Boat HouseThe Marine Boat House was a challenging project. A 100 seater shaded area was required that could be a smoking/drinks area as well as good for dining but also provide a clear view of a large screen TV and be ready for the World Cup!

The TV screen was housed in an Empire Breeze house, the central focal feature, with a variety of umbrella and table kits surrounding it. Thatch and Eucalyptus were used to screen off the less attractive existing structures such as the bottle store and fire escape.

The owner, Dean Gillison added "I am delighted with the whole project, the planning, the product, the installation and most of all with the increase in business turnover during the summer, and the Marine is now fully fitted out and ready for the smoking ban next year."

Bar 55, Newcastle

Bar 55 As one of the latest additions to the Newcastle bar scene, 7 giant parasols have been fitted in the area outside Bar 55. This amazing contemporary view of the bar shows the blue parasols in contrast with the pink of the building. The parasols have aluminium masts with matching silver heaters.

Trowel and Hammer Inn, Stowmarket, Suffolk

Trowel & HammerAndy and Caroline Middleton were looking for a whole new themed area for their inn that provide The Trowel & Hammer garden had a large garden with a fabulous swimming pool. To maximise the use of the space a dedicated function area and a number of shaded drinks tables were needed. In addition shade for sun loungers and existing tall tables was required.

The Empire house with its shaded seating for 24 was perfect for the dedicated function area and the table & umbrella kits were ideal for the drinks and dining areas. Thatched umbrellas formed tropical canopies over the sun loungers and the tall tables.

The owner Sally Salvage commented "I was surprised at how quickly the building and umbrellas were installed, the guys arrived at about 8.00am and they had finished by the afternoon, the transformation was almost instant. We are all delighted with the results, staff and customers alike. The summer has been very busy, with bookings for parties and our normal everyday business has increased with customers choosing to have lunch or dinner outside"

The Moorings, South Queensferry, West Lothian

The MooringsJohn Kennedy, operator of The Moorings, knew his smoking regulars were important to trade. "A huge percentage of my customers are smokers and I simply couldn’t afford to ignore this, otherwise I risked loosing their trade as they stayed away from the pub."

With the help of a £25,000 investment from Punch, two new outdoor areas were created. A doorway was built from the bar area allowing direct access from the pub into a courtyard and the old beer garden has been transformed.

Large covered and heated seating areas within stylish landscaping have doubled the pub’s capacity. John said: "There's nothing else like this in the area and the regulars absolutely love it – they have recognised the effort we have made and it’s paying off."

With the new outdoor space and food offering trade at the pub is now up by around 10% and experiencing a real boost to custom.
