Plans and timetables

Whilst every country of the UK has differing laws and procedures concerning licensing and planning controls, the tables below will give you some idea of the possible time it could take you to gain all the permissions you need and construct your outside area.

The timings given are approximate and for illustration purposes only as every country has different licensing and planning approaches.

Apply for Certificates of Suitability (Environmental Services, Planning, Building Control) You may need planning permission agreed in some instances before you can apply for licensing.

Submit licensing application (if full required)
Applications must be received several weeks in advance of a planned licensing board (exact times depend on your region.

Local authorities should make a decision within 8 weeks but the extra time allows for any amendments or mistakes to be rectified.

Submit licensing application. Display licensing notice and advertisementApplications do not need to be submitted until 28 days before you wish the change to begin but if any objections are received you may have to wait a further 20 days before your application is heard and decided.
